Vanishing Crafts

Vanishing Materials

a series of publication about Singapore traditional crafts and artisans

part of singapore culture & design research project

The Vanishing Series is designed to raise awareness of traditional crafts. It was conceived as a memory project in Singapore, sharing the stories of the last few remaining artisans. Readers are invited to participate as co-creators. The pages are designed with lots of blank space for their curatorial input, their memory records and photographs of any traditional artisans and vanishing trades from all over the world. To allow this valuable history to be passed on from generation to generation, we have also included a children’s storybook to introduce this heritage to the younger generation. Children can have a storybook in English or Chinese by flipping on either side of the 5-metre long storybook.
