Chinatown Visitor Centre

part of singapore culture & design research project

The design of Chinatown Visitor Centre is a blend of tradition and modern features and furnishings to express the contemporary, cultural and historical character of a community. A traditional architecture spirit is brought up through the brick walls & pillars, wood curved signage and Chinese arched door. Nostalgic black and white pictures, traditional hawker’s orange lamps, and untreated wood blocks display-stands are reminiscent of the old Chinatown. Elegant lighting made up of old photographs, as well as modern gallery & information stands are incorporated to give a touch of contemporariness.

Chinatown Visitor Centre is built and supported by National Heritage Board Singapore,

Singapore Tourism Board and Chinatown Business Association, Singapore.
