Three-time Winner of iF DESIGN AWARD!

My team and I are thrilled to let you know that our latest publication “Vanishing Crafts” has received an iF DESIGN AWARD 2016. This is the third time my creative works have been awarded the renowned iF label.

“Vanishing Crafts” is a memory project commissioned by Singapore National Library Board to inspire public interest on Singapore’s traditional crafts. This publication is unique because it is Singapore’s first ever set of illustrated children’s storybook that comes with a parents’ companion archive of artisanal masters and crafts. It embraces an immersive, shared parent-child reading experience. The reading companion allows parents to understand the tradition crafts better so they can engage the values of those voices and share them with their children while reading the storybook. The reading companion also acts as a documentation of the fading traditional crafts.

Book design:

This publication consists of 2 books: an illustrated children’s storybook and an artisans’ book:

1. The children's storybook is an accordion fold book design with two-sided printing. It allows our young readers to have either an English or a Chinese version, by flipping on either side.

2. The artisans' book (Vanishing Wisdom + Memory) is designed as a folded publication to signify the less popular traditional crafts but with a straight front edge to show the perfection of craftsmanship. The five colors of the open spine denote the life of the craftsmen: sour, sweet, bitter, spicy and salty. The pages are designed with lots of blank space for readers to partake as a co-creator.
